Social Media Marketing

What is Social Media Marketing?

In a nutshell, SMM is utilising social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter to increase brand awareness.

How can appitapp help?

We offer varied SSM services, which range from setting up social media platforms to help with social media marketing.

Can it be expensive?

Yes, is the short answer.

SMM strategy requires a lot of time and effort from planning to launch and then continuous activity & maintenance. Usually this needs a dedicated staff member at least part time.

Which social media platforms?

Unless you are a multi-national you don’t need to be on every platform. The main three to be active on are Instagram, Facebook & Twitter. Obviously if there is another particular platform where you think your target market is active then you should be there too!

What should I post?

Again this varies by platform. For example images tend to do well on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest. This can be in the form of photos, videos, GIFs etc.

SMM strategy?

Try to use the same branding across the platforms. This helps familiarity with users and is a good strategy to implement. Another good idea is to post the same or similar content across the platforms you use. Generally you don’t want to compete with yourself by posting different content on Facebook to that you post on Twitter or Instagram. Different content may imply, even unintentionally, that you value one set of social users over another. Don’t forget to include links to your website, contact information and the all important action trigger. The main way you want visitors/users to contact you or act (perhaps make a purchase, reservation, book an appointment etc.)

Hashtags & SMM?

The use of Hashtags are a very important aspect of SMM. They are needed to help you describe your message, business, brand etc. Hashtags can assist with the natural spread of your brand. Social media platforms use Hashtags differently for example Twitter 2 hashtags would be a good way to go. Instagram, between 15 and 30 can be largely effective, whereas Facebook some recommend that 1 Hashtag at a time is favourable.

What Hashtags should I use?

The obvious answer is keep it simple and relevant to your intended message and brand. However being creative can also boost results. Trial and error is inevitable. You can also carry out research yourself or perhaps find a SSM manager to help you identify hashtags and a strategy for you.

Building followers?

Building a high number of followers is not easy and is not always necessary. Having a relevant and engaged following is more so. How to achieve this is by being current, helpful and informative. Don’t always be marketing or selling, a good rule is not to “promote” more than one in every four posts you make. Plus keep a constant eye on your platforms for enquiries and complaints, good customer service can go a long way on social media platforms.
